Governor's Mansion
St. Andrew' Cathedral Cornerstone laid in 1865 Church of England
State Capitol
Supreme Court Building, Old Courtroom, there is a Judiciary History Center in this building covering much of Hawaii's history to statehood and information about themartial law that existed in Hawaii after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Waikiki was laced with barbed wire and children & adults were issued gas masks.
We took a walk downtown and saw lots of interesting historical sights-'Iolani Palace, the Capitol Building, St. Andrews Church, the Governor's Mansion, lots of great statues, and the Supreme Court Building. We read alot of the history of the state which we had no idea of before. Did you know that one of the kings of Hawaii tried to marry off one of his daughters to an Emperor of Japan to seal the countries together? Then Hawaii would be part of Japan! The State flag is fashioned after both the United States Flag and the United Kingdom Flag so that it would please both countries? They retained it as the state flag when it became part of the U.S.A. 'Iolani Palace is the only Royal Palace in the United States and it had electricity and telephone service before the White House and Buckingham Palace.
