Bathtime for Bonzos and Bonzoette-Aren't they the cutest?

Lake Mead or Bust

Lake Mead

A Tourist

Hoover Dam

Namesake of Lake Mead-he was a civil engineer who went on to bigger things.

Electrical lines coming from the Hoover Dam

New bridge going over the Colorado River just below the Hoover Dam.

Tunnel Hike

Lake Mead and the Marina from the tunnel hike

Tunnel Hike
News Flash: There are some great hikes and sights to see right here in Southern Nevada-you don't have to go to Hawaii, California or Oregon.
Did you all know that already? We have gone on three great hikes since coming home from Oregon. The first one was in the River Mountains just behind our house, then we went on this great tunnel hike and next we went out to Red Rock. Maybe we will have to take a hike down the strip-just like real tourists. We are loving living life like we are always on a vacation-hope we can stick to this game plan.
We had gone on this hike before and loved the beautiful views. Now the hike has been extended to go all the way to the dam from the Boulder Beach side of the lake-it was quite a walk but we made it! Ta Da!!!

Halloween

Anya and Kaia
Aunt Margaret-handing out candy, she finds fun no matter what the chore.

Superman

Dragon and Rat

Yes, Honey still thinks he is in Bend, Oregon-dreadlocks and tye dye...

Halloween pirate cake-compliments of Grandma Honey.

The annual Halloween party was a great success at Anya and Sam's house this year. Anya
(two weeks after surgery), cleaned her house and made delicious homemade chicken noodle soup. We collaborated on a costume for Kaia-a baby spider since her big brothers were Spiderman and Venom, but...no... that was last week, this week for Halloween they went back to their original costumes of a mouse ( or is that a rat?) and a dragon. Isaac and Noah love to dress up in their costumes so they invariably buy one too soon and end up with two or three costumes by the time the month of October is over. We used black dye to dye a onesie (they don't make black onesies-can you imagine?) and then designed the spidey legs out of little boys black dress up socks. They made cute little leggings-reminded me of the 80's! My sisters Margaret and Marsha along with Brendan came down from Reno for the weekend to enjoy their new grandniece and the Halloween party.

Grandparenting

This has turned out to be a favorite thing for me...eat your heart out, Oprah.

Hunting Bear

Noah is a crack up! He pretended to be a bear and made me hunt him down...this is my trophy picture!

Desert Big Horn Sheep

While Anya and Sam were busy with new baby Kaia, Grandma and Honey kept the big brothers busy with a trip to our favorite park in Boulder City with Uncle Garon where the sheep wander down the mountains onto the grass for a snack. In the background is Lake Mead-the largest man made lake.

Crater Lake

I know it has taken me forever to post these great pictures of Crater Lake, but better late than never. This was the most beautiful lake I have ever seen, so blue and unspoiled. You can only get down to it on one trail and the only boat allowed on it is a tour put on by the government department that takes care of the lake. I can't remember if it is State or National. We went toward the end of September and the roads around the North end of the lake closed shortly after we were there. We didn't realize that it closed down during the winter. We had lunch in the lodge-it was yummy and beautiful with a huge stone fireplace. The boat tour was already closed for the winter, but we walked down to the lake and Cameron took a swim-he loved the cold water.

Lost but not Forgotten

Here are some fun pictures from when my parents, sisters and niece
came to visit us in Bend, Oregon.
