Sahalie and Koosah Falls on the McKenzie River

Sahalie Falls

These are classic Oregon Waterfalls! Cameron and I came down the path thinking, another waterfall, really, when we spotted this powerful force of nature-it was like God was pouring water down the mountain straight out of a humongous pitcher. Spectacular! We looked at each other as if we were the first to discover this awesome waterfall. Then to top it off, we wandered down the path and considered turning around because we were freezing form the mist coming off of the river and waterfall, and I said, "Let's just go a little further." And there a little further down the rocky canyon was Koosah Falls-leaping again off of the cliffs. The river was so deep it was the color of the ocean-can you see the blue in the picture? Face it...you all need a trip to Central Oregon!

Proxy Falls

Linton Lake-off of Highway 242

This is a great little hike over a hill to a beautiful mountain lake-there was one other person there-he was fly fishing on the other side of the lake. It was really smokey aound the lake-must be another forest fire nearby.

Middle Sister-10, 047 ft. (or Hope as I like to call it.)

North Sister-10,085 ft. The Three Sisters were named Faith, Hope and Charity but the state legislature couldn't figure out which was which so they ended up with North, Middle, and South-how sad is that.
Mt. Washington-7,794 ft. Looms between Highway242-McKenzie Highway and Highway 20.

Black Butte-6,436 ft. Named for its thick dark carpet of trees, this volcanic cone rises protectively over Sisters.

Dee Wright Observatory

Cameron and I just got back from a fun day of sightseeing and hiking in the Three Sisters Mountain Wilderness Area. It was so beautiful and totally unexpected-the waterfalls were breathtaking! The Dee Wright Observatory had the mountains framed in little windows in a tower made from the lava flow. Great idea-you could actually tell exactly which mountain you were looking at-I may learn which mountain is which, yet!

Bear Encounters in Alaska

Cameron and my brother, Marcus, went up to Alaska on a working vacation-wait a minute, where do those fishing poles come in on a working vacation? Oh yeah, the vacation part. Anyway, Cam spotted some Grizzlies while he was there-pretty scary. He said they are huge!

Tumalo Falls

This creek is where Bend gets its drinking water, no wonder it is so good. This is one of the prettiest waterfalls I've ever seen. So fresh and clear. It was an easy drive just outside of Bend. From downtown Bend, from either Wall or Bond-go west on Franklin, which then turns into Riverside, which then turns into Tumalo, cross the river, then Tumalo turns into Galveston, continue on Galveston through two roundabouts, then Galveston turns into Skyliners Road.
To make a long story short-Bend is crazy about name changes on its roads.

Up on top-so cool!
