Hawaiin History

We walked to King's Village on Ka'iulani and Kalakaua. It is a cute little outdoor shopping Mall and they have the changing of the guards-I'm not sure which king exactly, but one from the 19th century, because they wore updated English looking uniforms. There was a Burger King and a cute little cafe in there, along with alot of other cute shops.

Next, we walked up the street to the statue of Ka'iulani. (Corner of Ka'iulani and Kuhio) She was supposed to be the next Queen of Hawaii, but Lilo'uokalani lost the crown in 1893 after she tried to regain more sovereignty for the Hawaiin Islands and the local businessmen revolted and she was dethroned. Her brother was Kalakaua. Anyway, Ka'iulani was supposed to be next and she died at the age of 23 in a tragic accident while riding her horse on the big island in a sudden rainstorm.

We then went to Big Kahuna Bar and Grill on Kuhio, and had chicken fingers & fries then walked through the International Market, Moose McGillicuties, the Yard House, and then finally to Hale Kulane-a beautiful hotel on Waikiki. They have a great restaurant right on the beach called 'A House Without a Key'. Wonderful Entertainment. I am loving Hawaiin music!
