Jurassic Park Tour Bus

On January 27th, we went to the North Shore again and went on the Macadamia Nut Outlet tour, had lunch at Hale'iwa Joe's and then went to Waimea Falls Park.

The outlet tour was awesome and so worth the 12 bucks! The tour guide told us all about local flora and crops, then we got to a stage area and he started a fire with two sticks and gave us pointers on how to start one ourselves, haha, then did a dance with a fire baton to drum music.

He then showed us how to open a coconut! We drank some of the milk but the coconut oil is way too rich-apparently it gives you, you know what it gives you, so he wouldn't let us taste that!

We rode on the Jurassic Park Tour Bus, isn't that cool? You wouldn't believe all the movies and TV shows that have been made in that area. Gilligan's Island, Lost, 50 First Dates, Tears of the Sun, Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, Fantasy Island, and I'm sure more that I can't remember. They made headbands for us that were made out of palm tree fans with a flower.

We went out on a fish pond that was man made 800 years ago by the Menehues for the Alii's (Royalty). The Menehues are a legend, but supposedly these small people did very precise stonework and the pond is enclosed by such tight stonework with no cement, they are thinking that they were the engineers and builders. What do you think? The guide pointed out Turtle Island and the dragon on Ko'olua Mountain Range. Chinaman's Hat Island is also nearby in that area of the island.

This tour is located on Kamehameha Highway. Going northwest on the highway it is just before the Kualoa Ranch, which we've heard is great for horseback riding. Sometimes they call this the Windward Side and sometimes they call it the North Shore. I think the North Shore starts at Laie. Anyway, it is on the way to the north. You can buy Hawai'iana, macadamia nuts and coffee. And you can have lots of free samples of all the flavors of nuts (even garlic) and Kona Coffee.
